I got the black sesame croissant and a hot mocha latte. Croissant was delicious. It has the black sesame filling inside and the actual croissant tasted good. Wasn’t soggy, croissant was flaky with a little crunch. Mocha was good, more on the milk side but was good nonetheless. I would definitely go back to try the other bakery goods.
I ordered through Uber, and I've visited in person a few times. I was really excited for this quiche, because it is one of my favorites. So, I was disappointed when I bit into it and it was raw inside. I called, and they did offer to replace it if I came in, so i did appreciate that. But, I ordered from Uber , because I didn't want to go in. I'm just let down I didn't get to enjoy the pastry.
I drove all the way here from St.Petersburg just to try my first homemade croissant. I tried both the ube and pistachio croissants and instantly ascended to heaven. I’ve NEVER had anything like these. They have so many unique flavor combinations with a lot of Asian influences. The shop itself is quaint and impeccably clean. Baristas are nice, inviting, and very patient. I came back to St.Petersburg and a few weeks later tried to find something close to this where I lived. Needless to say I was disappointed because nothing was on par with Sugar Dough Bakehouse. Even now I’m tempted to call and ask if they’re willing to ship orders. This is a gem that I hope never changes.
We visited Sugar Dough Bakehouse for the first time and this place was great! I love the atmosphere and especially the baked goods. We got an iced lychee tea, dalgona latte (unfortunately no picture of this), pistachio croissant, jalapeño/bacon/cheese danish, tiramisu cruffin, and a ham/cheese croissant. Everything was really good! I think the baked goods were better than the drinks (personally) so maybe go with those first, and be sure to get certain croissants warmed up. We had everything cold and I think the ham/cheese croissant would’ve been a lot better warm. All in all, I’ll definitely be returning and trying some more foods from their bakery! And maybe even more drinks to see if there is anything better! Sugar Dough Bakehouse is really worth your time!
The best croissant I’ve had in my life. Got two for my husband and two for me we thought we needed a box, but ate them all there in one sitting lol. I’m in love will definitely come back. All was so freshly made. 🥰 …
In 2023, this bakery seems to focus more on croissants and variations with the croissant dough. They no longer serve asian milk bread. Offerings are still tasty, but I prefer their cream puff location.
Original review -They are an offshoot of Light on the Sugar further northeast, but serve different bakery goods. In this store, they focus more on croissants, muffins, etc. Not a lot of variety at this point, they probably need some time to settle down. They have good offerings, but not on par with the cream puffs served at the other store. Will try again in a few weeks to see how they have progressed.
My first time here and I absolutely loved it! These croissants are a bit pricey but worth it! I tried the strawberry, pistachio, almond, and blueberry croissant. The pistachio one is the best by far! The almond is a close second!! They’re so light and filled with delicious, sweet cream, no wonder the name! The blueberry croissant was a bit disappointing as it had no filling. The tiger latter was super sweet which is why I loved it! Definitely a must try. They only accept cashless payments so just be aware.
I’ve tried this place twice because I wanted to give a fair review. The first time I went was in the afternoon after 1pm. I was very disappointed with the little selection they had. My husband and I got the almond croissant, tiramisu cruffin, sakura latte, and matcha latte. The drinks were pretty good, but I felt like the pastries were underwhelming.
I went back a few days later because they had brought back the black sesame croissant, and I live for black sesame. This time I went in the morning around 9:30am. They had a much bigger selection since it was early in the morning. I ordered the black sesame croissant, ube brownie, and a hojicha latte. The video they had posted on Instagram of the black sesame croissant showed it really filled with cream inside. I was disappointed to find that mine was not that filled. The little black sesame on the outside was delicious but the filling tasted like super watered down black sesame. You could barely notice it. I was very disappointed. The ube brownie was kind of dry. It had ube flavor but was underwhelming like most of the pastries I’ve tried there.
I ordered a pistachio croissant, sakura croissant, and matcha latte to go to share with my husband. Both pastries were good. The sakura croissant was too sweet for me, but the flavor was very good. And it was filled with so much crème unlike the black sesame croissant. The pistachio croissant was delicious, from what I’ve, it’s the best pastry they have.
Overall, I don’t think I would try this place again. Yes, they have a few good pastries, but the majority I’ve tried were just okay. I might be willing to stop by again when they bring back loaf cakes, or during the lunar new year though.
